We must be clear about the nature and necessity for evangelism as it is
presented to us in the bible, we must be clear also on the legitimacy and
importance of the call to do it.
EVANGELISM
1. Evangelism comes from Greek word ‘Evangelizo it means to bring good
news ...of the gospel to people.
Act of communicating the gospel to unsaved with the view to bring them
to salvation.
God has chosen us among mankind for Himself John 15:19 and for distinct
service Lk 6:13, 1Pet 2:9-10
ii.
REASON FOR EVANGELISM
1.
The
value of life i.e. life or soul is important, valuable or precise than all that
is in the world: Mark 8:35-38, Gen 9:6 no duplicate.
2.
Hell
is real, is describe as a place of fire, darkness, brimstone torment, anguish
and pain for ever. Luke 12:5, Rev 19:20, 20: 10, 14, 15, Mt 25:46.
3.
Christ
suffering on the cross: Ish 53:5, Rom 5:8
4.
The
folly, vanity of this world – 2Pet3:10-11, Eccl 1:2
5.
The
glories of Heaven : Rev 21:1, 2, 4-5
6.
The
personal reward:- 1Th 2:1-9

1.
He
must be saved

He
must leave a pure life surrender to Christ 2cor 5:17

He
must be filled by holy Spirit – Eph 5:18

He
must know the word of God – 2Tim 2:15, IITim 3:16

must be prayerful – Act 12:5, 1 The 5:17, Phil 1:4

He
must have compassion for soul – Mk 8:12

He
must work with Love, dedication seal, faith, commitment - Lk 15:1-3, 8-10 and Lk 19:10

3 TRUTHS ABOUT IT
1.
Jesus
commanded us to Go with all of His power – Act 1:8, Eph 1:11-21 i.e omnipotence
– authority above nation, creature, human, super human, church, devil and his
work.
2.
Go
with all of His Parish all Nations – the field is big enough for all Vs 19..
3.
Go
with His Entire Program calling men for decision for Christ disciple the, bring
them to into fellowship.
a)
Making
of disciple thru-hearing and believing the gospel
b)
Baptize
of the disciple in triune name.
c)
Warn
and teaching them to obey Christ.
TWO
FACTORS THERE
1.
The
evangelistic goal of the great commission = is to lead people to Christ through
the preaching of the gospel – Rom 1:16,

The
educational Goal of the great commission – is to teach them to observe all
things, or to put into practice the things that Jesus taught – knowledge plus
principles leads lives changing.
3.
Go
with all of His presence to lam with our – personality will back us even God
lead. The Great Am. Rom 8:31, we have conquerors vs 37.
OUR
INVOLVEMENT
God work through us is like basic method of
evangelism.
1.
Preaching
– public announcing the gospel to the people telling them to leave their sin
and repent and accept the savior – Christ the word 1cor 1:23, 1Pet 1:23.
2.
Teaching
– we explain the gospel truth, grand split simply to people and help them to
apply those truths to their lives.
3.
Witnessing-
we tell the people what God has reveal and what Christ has come to offer for us
in terms of life forgiveness, joy, peace, eternal life etc.- John 3:11
4.
Let
Holy Spirit speak through you. Power – 1Th 1:5 Act 4:29-31
5.
Prayer
even with tears – Act 20:19 i.e. Paul wept for soul
6.
Be
courteous- don’t be talkative, don’t argue, let them speak too.
7.
Be
sympathetic. Lk19;8-10
8.
Don’t
hold prejudice toward them.
9.
Don’t
rely on your ability but Christ that strengthen you
10.Deal with them as they are not superior

CONCLUSION The great commission is still in effect, we must never
forget that it is from the Lord Himself. And it has been given to all God’s
people. We are God’s ambassadors called to sound warning, judgment and call
sinners to repentance, announce God’s grace.
