 NEW LIFE IN CHRIST 2 COR 5:17

Cornerstone Scriptures:  John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, Romans 8:1-2

Your birth into the new life involves the destruction of the old nature of sin and establishment of God’s nature in you.  This miracle of transformation was brought about by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.  His acceptance into your heart and life makes you a new creature, the old lifestyle of sin passes away and you become a member of God’s family.

1.    You are a new creation/creature

When you say you’re a new creature or creation you’re basically saying;

(a)    You are a member of God’s family – Ephesians 2:18-19, John 1:12

(b)   Your nature has changed – 1John 3:9, Romans 6:22, John 3:6.

(c)    You are a citizen of God’s Kingdom – Colossians 1:12-14.

(d)   You are no longer a sinner, but what you are is the righteousness of God in Christ – Romans 8:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

2. Your new way of life (Galatians 2:20)

(a)    The basic success in your new life is the Word of God.  Therefore, you must study it and do what it says – Joshua 1:8, 1 Peter 2:2, James 1:21-25.

(b)   Communion with God in prayer – Luke 18:1, Matthew 26:41, Luke 22:46, Isaiah 40:30-31, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Mark 1:35.

(c)    Fellowship with other believers – Heb. 10:25, 1 Cor. 15:33, 2 Cor. 6:14-18, Prov. 13:20, Ps.16:3.

3. Your new status

(a)    You become a joint heir with Jesus – Ephesians 2:3-6, Romans 8:16-17.

(b)   All things are possible to you – Mark 9:23, Mark 10:27, Luke 1:37, Matthew 19:26, Matthew 18:18, Matthew 16:19, Job 22:28.

(c)    You have victory over satan and sin – Luke 10:19, Romans 6:14, Romans 8:37, Romans 16:20, 1John 4:4, 1John 5:4
