What is Christian discipleship

A Christian discipleship is the process by which a person accepts the gospel, grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the word of God and Holy Spirit, to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and assists in the spreading of the good news.
This requires that we be in the Word daily—studying it, praying over it, and obeying it. In addition, we should always be ready to give testimony of the reason for the hope that is within us (1 Peter 3:15) and to disciple others to walk in His way.
According to Scripture, being a Christian disciple involves personal growth characterized by the following:
1. Putting Jesus first in all things (Mark 8:34-38). The disciple of Christ needs to be set apart from the world. Our focus should be on our Lord and pleasing Him in every area of our lives. We must put off self-contentedness and put on Christ-contentedness.
2. Following Jesus' teachings (John 8:31-32). We must be obedient children and doers of the Word. Obedience is the supreme test of faith in God (
1 Samuel 28:18),(Philippians 3:6-8).
3. Fruitfulness (John 15:5-8,16). Our job is to abide in Christ, and if we do, the Holy Spirit will produce the fruit, as we become more obedient to the Lord and learn to walk in His ways, our lives will change.
4. Love for other disciples (John 13:34-35). We are told that love of other believers is the evidence of our being a member of God's family (
1 John 3:10). Love is defined and elaborated on in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. It shows that love is not an emotion; it is action. Philippians 2:3-4)."our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus
5. Evangelism - Making disciples of others (Matthew 28:18-20).
(a) Every Man/Woman are expected to be an active soul-winner and an incurable witness for Christ.
(b) Therefore he/she should be involved in the propagation of the Gospel by means of word of mouth, tracts distribution, letter writing, crusades, Seminars, Youth services, Village evangelism, child evangelism prison, hospital and market evangelism. etc.
(c) Every Man/Woman are also expected to be very active in follow-up programs.
We are to share our faith and tell nonbelievers about the wonderful changes Jesus Christ has made in our lives.
6.To Give Regularly (Act 20:35 II Cor.9:7)
When we are really interested in our Church we will support it with our money as well as our presence. Malachi 3:10
In the new testament we are taught that everything we have belongs to the Lord, Matt 23:23. We should be willing to give all. God loves a cheerful and generous giver.

CONCLUSION
A successful life style is not measured by the quantity of accumulated possession; neither is it measured by popularity. Rather, it consists in the attainment of God’s goals and purposes for one’s life.
As leaders we are call upon to manage the church for the glory of God. Be part of the solution don’t be part of the problem. Acts 20 ;28
That’s the whole point of being a disciple of Jesus: we imitate Him, carry on His ministry, and become like Him.
